Suitcases for the Last Journey
Exhibition in Munich
Exhibition by Erzdiözese München Freising, in cooperation with the University Hospital LMU, Christophorus Hospice and Barmherzige Brüder
In 2011 Gunda Borgeest decided to bring the travelling exhibition designed by Fritz Roth to Munich, to find partners and create a varied program to accompany the exhibition.
100 people have packed 100 suitcases and asked themselves what they would take with them on their very last journey. The result displayed in the exhibition was a touching examination with our human finiteness.
Gunda Borgeest has developed a concept for audioguides which she then produced and created a series of artistic events during the exhibition: with student actors of the Otto-Falckenberg-Schule, a reading of „Verwaisten Eltern", a Schubert concert with „Kammeroper München", recitals („Sterbelieder für´s Leben") by Marianne Saegebrecht and Joseph Brustmann, an Impro Opera by „LaTriviata" and a tragicomical program („Wenn ich mal tot bin...") with Dominik Wilgenbus and Alexander Krampe.
Exhibition and accompanying program proved to very successfull, with over 11,000 visitors in six weeks!
